China is building a megacity that will be larger than all of Japan

中国正在建造一个比整个日本都大的巨型城市

China hasa thing for megacities. The country is building one megacity out of a nine-city region in the country’s Pearl River Delta,two more farther north, and now, a megacity that could eclipse the entirepopulation of most countries.

中国对巨型城市情有独钟。中国现在正在珠江三角洲地带建造一个由九个城市组成的巨型城市，这个巨型城市的人口比大部分国家的总人口还多。在珠三角以北，中国还在建造另外两个巨型城市。

In its latest undertaking, the Chinesegovernment has announced plans to make Beijing(current population: 20 million) the center of an 82,000 square mile megacitycalled Jing-Jin-Ji that will eventually have 130 million inhabitants. Thatwill make it more populated than Japan byroughly 3 million people.

而在最新的一项壮举中，中国宣布让北京（人口2000万）成为一个叫做京津翼巨型城市的中心，这个巨型城市面积达82000平方英里，人口将达到1.3亿。比日本总人口还要多出300万。

In forming a new megacity, the idea is tomarry the resources of each surrounding region: Beijing’sdeep pockets and research capabilities, Tianjin’sport access to the Bohai Sea, and the technological developments in Hebei province. Newlyformed highways and bridges, such as the one that links the central cityof Yanjiao to Beijing, will connect the cities.

建成巨型城市的目的是为将各个周边地区的资源联系起来：北京雄厚的财力和研发能力，天津进入渤海的港口优势，还有河北省的技术发展。新建成的公路和桥梁将链接这些城市，比如燕郊到北京的交通线路。

Chinaalready has full cities built in the early 2000s and beyond that are empty.There are literally hundreds of huge apartment/ condo high rise buildingcompletely empty..no one lives in the cities..

It is incomprehensible that China still doesnot have property taxes. Consider the benefits- money for services, deterrentfor property speculators by making the speculation more expensive, moreresponsive local governments as they have to answer to local taxpayers…..
I hope it is on the drawing board of the law writing project.
