When it happens elsewhere – and particularly when it underscores the perils and pitfalls of democracy – it becomes front-page news.
Trump, or “Chuanpu” as they call him in China, has been a gift to Communist party spin doctors paid to convince the country’s 1.4 billion citizens that rule of the people is a sure path to chaos and destruction.

...perfect ammunition for the rulers of one-party China to argue that democracy was bad not just for it but for the world. “It produces buffoons. It’s carnivalesque. It is decadent,” Bisley says.
Reagan. Bush. Bush. Trump? They have a point.

If Donald Trump is a joke, it's not a very funny one.

It's like the prospect of Britain electing Roy Chubby Brown as PM.

We need to shift the conversation away from 'the problem with democracy' to 'the problem with corporations buying election campaigns'.
The US is a failed democracy- the President of the States is a puppet for the corporates. Until the people reclaim the political process, we are going to see these idiots rise.
Besides, let's be honest, the US is a military state (which it has exported around the world) with it's people living under surveillance by the state.
Land of the free? Only in the storybooks...

Regardless of who is president a China - U.S. showdown is on the cards in the next 30 years.
As the Chinese get richer and more powerful eventually they will make a move in the Pacific that will lead to a skirmish that might lead to war.
