China placed an order on Tuesday for dozens of Airbus A330 jets during a visit by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to France.

A spokesman for the European planemaker said the deal includes a firm purchase of 45 A330 aircraft, worth at least $11 billion at list prices, plus provisional orders for another 30.

Yupe, it is a huge deal. It is also true that China currently doesn’t have the technology to completely develop these passenger aircrafts. One day, China will get there.

Yep. Starting with the Comac C919. Actually, with the ARJ-700 (which is mostly to practice aircraft building, and to satisfy the lower end domestic and third world markets). Look at China’s fighter jets, they are already pretty much there. Also the MA600/700, the Y-20 and pretty soon that boat-plane, whose name I forgot. So many aircraft programs!

Yea Eurocopter which is now Airbus Helicopter has give China many core tech in the past, and currently there is also joint venture. They deserve this order more than Boeing.

As i said several dozens of times on here. We in Europe don’t see China as a threat at all(especially militarily), Contrary to the U.S and Japan. So we always/have always been cooperating with China and providing lots of tech transfer to China in many sensitive fields which the U.S/Japan would NEVER be willing to do. For us Russia is a bigger immediate threat by far
